Mayan Resorts specializes in timeshare properties in Mexico. They have resorts in Acapulco, Maya Riviera, Nuevo Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Pinasco, Mazatlan and are adding Cabo San Lucas very soon. The timeshare resorts operated by Mayan all go by the names Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan and Sea Garden regardless of the city in which they are in.
Mayan Resorts offer studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units. The 1 and 2 bedroom units contain kitchenettes but the studios do not. All of the buildings are set up so that your unit will have a water view, either of the ocean or the gulf. Mayan Resorts also prides themselves on refurbishing all of their units every 5 years so that they are always clean and in good condition. The properties appear to be quite beautiful, modern and well decorated.
Looking through reviews for Mayan Resorts you will find a mixed bag. It seems that people who purchase the timeshare to enjoy the vacation weeks themselves or folks who purchase time at the resorts from someone else seem to like the resorts/company just fine. You will find though that many people felt disgruntled from the timeshare presentation. There are a lot of reviews stating that the presentation is very long (4 hours) and that it is very high pressure. Many people also have stated that they were misled during the presentation and promised things they were never given. One example being that they will lead you to believe that you can make a lot of money on the timeshare if you purchase it as an investment and sell your weeks to others for a profit, but you generally cannot make a profit from it. Even though we cannot validate the claims of others, the information is there so you can make an informed decision and know what to expect.
